Hi
Everyone,
With
Bill's permission I wanted to share this with everyone. A few
weeks back, several of the guys (and our Den Mother
"Nan") from our club took a road trip to fly with the gang at
the Candor field. We all had such a great time! It was
really nice to remember how much fun it can be to
just "fly", relax, and enjoy yourself with such a laid back
bunch of
guys.
Anyway, Bill called me up a few nights ago and wanted to read
me this "poem" that he had written about a
little
experience that he and I both had while flying our planes in
Candor. Before he finished reading it I was laughing so hard
that I woke the wife! To help you better understand, at the
Candor flying field they have some pretty tall trees that are
located across the runway, and just happen to be in the flight
path where we normally fly at our field. He and I both had a
little mishap with the trees. It wasn't too funny at the time,
but now after looking back at it, and hearing this award
winning poem, I think that it is hilarious! Bill read the poem
to a few of the guys at lunch today and everyone was rolling
with laughter! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Also, Bill
has given us permission to pass it along, so feel free to do
so!
Merry
Christmas and Happy Flying,
Ronnie
"A
Tree Grows in Candor"
I
never thought that I would ever see me fly my plane into a
tree
And
watch the pieces flutter down and then pick them up from off
the ground.
We
put them in a plastic sack, two thousand thirty-three to be
exact.
It
made me feel just like a clown and I still can hear that awful
sound.
Yes,
I worked hard to build this one right, and sometimes I even
worked late at night.
All
polished, tuned and standing by, just wait until you see this
beauty fly!
The
day was clear, the sun was high.
Hardly
a breeze was drifting by; I must have been the first to
fly.
Sounding
good while climbing high, She left a trail across the
sky.
The
engine ran it's very best and my heart was pounding in my
chest.
I
rolled her over and headed down, the roar was such that it
shook the ground.
Yes,
it seemed as though the whole world was mine until it hit that
Stupid Pine!
